Refuelling with food

Using uppers—particularly Tina—suppresses the appetite and causes an extremely dry mouth. This often leaves you with no appetite or desire to eat. If you don’t eat during multi-day sex marathons, you get exhausted faster and take longer to recover. You will feel much weaker physically during the comedown (hangover) if you do not eat enough.

Eat well in the days leading up to the sex date to build mental and physical strength.

Eat small portions regularly during chemsex, even when you are not hungry. Eat things like yoghurt, fruit (e.g., bananas), smoothies, mass gainer, soup or protein shakes.

Have plenty of food in the house to refuel after your sex date.

Eat small (liquid, if necessary) portions regularly during the comedown, even if you are not hungry. This speeds up the recovery process.

Supplements

Supplements can ease or shorten recovery when taken as an addition to healthy foods. What supplements are the best to use?

Antioxidants help neutralise certain harmful substances in your body.

Vitamin C and E are well-known examples. Fruits and vegetables contain a lot of vitamin C. Nuts and vegetable oil are packed with vitamin E. Blueberries and raspberries are also high in antioxidants.

Fat is a key building block in the body; you need it to build up energy and body heat. Always use healthy unsaturated fats, as they lower blood cholesterol levels. Low cholesterol reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. Unsaturated fats can be found in olive oil, nuts, linseed and avocados, among other things.

Omega-3 fatty acids protect cells from oxidative stress. This is a group of polyunsaturated fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself. Salmon, herring, pecans, walnuts and vegetable oil are rich in Omega-3.

Melatonin is a supplement taken to improve sleep after use. Melatonin is a hormone that determines your biorhythm. Only take melatonin at night, more than an hour before you go to sleep. Try to take it as regularly as possible.

L-tryptophan is an amino acid that contributes to the production of the neurotransmitter serotonin. It is an essential amino acid that is not produced by the body. There is a lot of L-tryptophan in soybeans, parmesan cheese, sesame seed, chicken and turkey.

You can take L-tryptophan capsules to increase the amount of serotonin in your body after use. The amino acid maintains serotonin levels and makes the comedown slightly less negative. Depending on the dosage, take one or two capsules in the days after using.

It is important to take the L-tryptophan capsules at least 24 hours after you last took drugs. Do not wait much longer.

Do not use L-tryptophan while using, as that can be a dangerous combination. Excessive serotonin in the body can cause serotonin syndrome. This can lead to serious symptoms, including high body temperature, increased blood pressure, headache, dilated pupils, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, rapid heartbeat, heavy sweating and muscle twitching. The body temperature rising too high can be fatal.
