“We make something special out of it’
Pieter (56) started using with his partner in 2019. He talks about his experiences with drug use at parties and at home.
‘My wife and I are both around 50 years old and we have (only) been using since 2019. I have always been anti-drugs, which is something I learnt from my childhood. But since, I’ve discovered that drugs helps you discover things, even about yourself, that you otherwise would never have known.
I understand that for young people, temptation and discipline is more difficult, but that is the benefit of starting at our age. My girlfriend is better at taking breaks. I have the desire to do it more often, especially if the schedule is empty and we don’t have anything the day after

When we use, we will make something special out of it. Most of the time, we will plan it and we prepare ourselves well for it by eating healthily and only drinking water. We make it extra cosy with a nice LED lamp, and beforehand I’ll look for a few cool DJ-sets on watch on YouTube.
At home, we mostly use 3-MMC and at friends’ house parties we use XTC. We use at home because there were no parties as a result of corona. At home, we convert the couch into a large bed with a duvet on top and make sure that we both look extra nice for each other. That’s how we create romance and intimacy.
We have two kids that don’t know about our use, they’re never home at these times. If the kids themselves come into contact with drugs, we’ll be open about it.
